Cats Whiskers Day Nursery, Policies

Admissions Policy

We welcome every child as an individual, treating children according to their different needs, abilities and interests.

Cats Whiskers Day Nursery offers full day care and sessional care to meet individual family child-care needs. Places are offered according to where there is availability. If a place cannot be offered it is possible to place your child’s name on a waiting list. There is a minimum requirement of two sessions.

Once a prospective parent/carer has registered an interest in taking a place for their child a place will be offered on completion of Admission Procedures.

While we endeavour to accommodate siblings, we cannot guarantee a place being available therefore it is necessary for each child to go through the registration and admission procedures.

Cats Whiskers Payment Policy

Cats Whiskers prices are set annually on 1st April each year.  While the nursery endeavours to keep costs as low as possible, in order to maintain sustainability and quality of care prices will increase annually.  Also for it to be possible to pay staff according to their qualifications and experience and to meet rising costs of services etc prices do need to be reviewed annually.  Parents/ carers are informed in writing one month in advance of any pricing changes. The nursery is committed to support parents who may encounter unexpected financial difficulties by allowing them to pay on a weekly basis in the short term.  However the nursery reserves the right to discontinue providing child care for a child where payment of fees falls into arrears. Regular late payment of fees will be deemed as breach of contract and the nursery place will be terminated. The nursery will endeavour to collect any outstanding fees once a child has left.

 Free Nursery Education Places

The nursery is registered to provide Early Education Funded places in early years care and education for children who are three to five years old and attend in the pre-school area of the nursery.  Parents are informed by the nursery manager how the funding is claimed and passed on to cover the ‘funded part’ of the day at Cats Whiskers.  Cats Whiskers adheres to the ‘Code of Practice’ on the Provision of ‘Free Nursery Places’ for three and four year olds. The nursery can also accommodate children eligible for Two’s Two Funding- All offers of places are dependent on space available according to our nursery registration.

 Up Front Costs

On application for a place at Cats Whiskers the paying parents/carer is requested to pay a non- returnable administration fee of £20.00 together with a deposit of one week’s fees (deposits are returned when one month notice in writing is given of leaving the nursery and all fees are paid). Prospective parents are informed of current prices via the nursery brochure/website.

 Monthly Fees

Fees are charged monthly in advance and are due to be paid on the first of each month.  Payment can be made by direct debit, internet banking or cash.  The nursery does not have a facility for accepting credit card payments. Please allow 5 days clearance when you make your payment if you pay via the internet. Fees are inclusive of meals which include breakfast, mid-morning fruit break, cooked lunch and high tea.  Children’s nappies are not included and must be provided by the parent.  Charges still apply when a child is absent from the nursery because of illness or holidays. Additional charges are made for late payment of fees, late collection of children and for using nursery nappies.  See attached nursery prices sheet.

Fees are charged for all contracted hours one month in advance, the invoices are calculated at 4.25 weeks each month which equates to 51 weeks each year, this allows for the closure at Christmas.  All fees for the other statutory holidays when the nursery is closed are deducted in the month which they fall, including New Year Day.  These deductions are stated clearly on the invoice.  Additional days booked as extras will be charged for in arrears on the following month’s invoice.

It is not nursery policy to swap children’s contracted days unless there is an emergency situation.

 Child-care Vouchers and Tax Credits

Cats Whiskers is registered with various agencies who provide payment vouchers for child-care via employers which provides a means of tax relief against child-care fees.  Parents need to provide the nursery registration details to the agency that their employer uses to enable part payment by this method.  Information about the various voucher agencies that the nursery is registered with can be obtained from the nursery manager.  Please note that payment via this method is still due on the first of the month and voucher payments received late will be charged for.

Parents whose children attend Cats Whiskers can claim Child-care Tax Credit against their fees.  They need to inform the Inland Revenue of their new child-care costs each time they change.

The manager will be pleased to answer any queries about the nursery fees and or payment of fees.
